Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT)

This is one approach designed to teach listening and language to children with hearing loss. This approach is designed to maximize the use of a child's residual hearing to process spoken language and to communicate using speech.

Goals are developed in the areas of audition, speech, language, and cognition according to the normal developmental sequence.

Parents and/or caregivers are active participants in the therapy process. The goal is to use Auditory-Verbal techniques and strategies during all daily activities. By using the Auditory-Verbal approach throughout each day the child will learn to integrate listening into their set of skills.
