Fluency Disorders:

Fluency disorders are characterized by a disruption in the flow of speech output (eg. sound, syllable, word or phrase repetitions; sound prolongations; blocks) and may or may not be accompanied by observable facial grimaces or body movements. Stuttering is a common disorder that may affect children or adults. Many youngsters experience episodes of 'normal nonfluency' when they are dysfluent for a period of time; this may disappear spontaneously.
